What Guests Are Saying
Sandy Beach Campground is a well-maintained, clean, and quiet facility with spacious campsites, friendly staff, and immaculate bathrooms. Many visitors appreciate the beautiful views and the peaceful atmosphere, especially during weekdays. However, some noted the lack of a sandy beach for swimming and occasional noise from nearby live music on weekends, along with minor maintenance issues that could be addressed. Overall, guests recommend the campground for its value and pleasant experience.

Nice little campground on the edge of the lake. Spaces 1-17 were nicely landscaped and well presented. Do pay attention to the site details. We were in site 13 and while it said it was level, my F250 and 35 foot Trailer were not all level parked in there.
Do be aware there are water taps at the water fountains if you need water, however, we brought our tanks filled.
Also, DO be aware that you cannot get to the lake from the first loop. You have to go down to the actual boat launch to get to the Sandy Beach.

We had to make an abrupt change due to the shootings at Maquoketa Caves. 😔 You can't go anywhere nowadays....
Needless to say... Great place and hidden gem. Grounds crew are super nice and helpful. Plenty of firewood. More importantly, it's super close to Lake Macbride Boat 🛥 Rentals. We went kayaking and rented a pontoon both days.
Showers are hot 🔥 and good pressure.
I highly recommend this place! 🔥 💪🏾 💯 ❤️

The bathroom was a mess, camphost didn't pay much attention to the gate when it was open, nor was he very familiar with the facilities. Wish there was a better way to deal with no shows as our party had 3 sites, with one being quite a bit away from the other 2, and the site next to us never showed up. Would have been nice to be able to move them next to our camper.

Idem gem of a place. It is very peaceful. Don’t expect full hook up there but we didn’t mind because it keeps the Karens and Richards away.

The campground is very clean - it’s in a great area and the restrooms were lovely too. Unfortunately we were only there long enough to sleep and leave but I would definitely stay there again.

Why are the lights all out in the campground especially by the kids playground. And the bathroom it’s really dark there we have been going there for years and the camp ground had street lights now it’s just dark. Unexceptionable

The swimming area (which was not marked but was located near the boat tamp) was very rocky.
