My spot had a gorgeous view of the water and sunset. Spaces were kind of close together but I still felt like I had privacy. The attendants were nice to talk with. The restrooms were kept clean. There was plenty of firewood readily available. It was quiet and peaceful and the location is perfectly located between Solon and North Liberty. Was one of the last campers to leave for the year. They closed seemingly early to me on the last day of September.

Be aware the paved entry drive is STEEP and through 2 gullies (think 10% grade). The drive into the campground is about 1.5 miles. The site we had, #60, was an uphill back in, but once at the top of the small hill, leveled out enough that we were about 2.5” off side to side. With leveling ramps, it ended up OK. We stayed in this site 2 nights, then moved to site #63 for 8 nights. We purposely selected the second site because we wanted to be across from the dump station so we could use our sewer tote instead of having to move the trailer. The sites closer to the lake seem to be more popular and mostly flatter, but we’d never been here, so didn’t know what to expect. The campground grass is kept mowed and is clean with recycle bins for cans and plastic at the dump station. We didn’t use the shower houses, so we can’t speak to that.

SITE 45 is paved but not LEVEL!.
Overall, we loved our trip to Coralville Sugarbottom campground. Anyone who is contemplating SITE 45 should know that is is very difficult to find a level spot. We have a 24 ft camper and had to park diagonally and add a wooden step so we could get in and out of the camper safely.
We've camped for several years in this trailer and have parked in a number of difficult spots, but it took us over an hour and the help of several friends to get parked.
BATHROOMS: Older bathrooms nearest our site were fine, but had shower stalls and leaking toilets. The new bathrooms had "rooms" and were clean .
we never had to wait.
BIKING: Having a bike to get around the campground was great. Biking from the campground to anywhere else requires going up and down several hills and around blind corners along the park road to get to a bike trail. I would not do it at night!
LOCATION: Convenient to several communities where you can find groceries, restaurants and plenty of small towns to visit.
CAMPGOUND: Suguarbottom has several water view spots, mostly gravel sites. There are lots of trees and shade in most spaces.
We'll be back!

Camping in September is a good time to camp. Being half full the park was overall fairly quiet. Also no waiting at dump station.

The campsite was absolutely gorgeous on the lake. I have to be honest I didn’t understand that it would be no water at the campsite, but once we got used to it, we were fine. There are just two of us, a family might feel differently!
We loved our bike and I must say that the trails and Iowa were amazing. Their signage is less than perfect but once you find the trail. We wrote this cedar Valley nature area, the Iowa River Trail, and the Grantwood. We enjoyed them very much.

Sugar bottom seems to allow a variety of camp experiences: the fringes allow more space and quiet while the central area of the campground seems well suited to people wanting a more social experience.
