Good site (A54), no shade from morning to early afternoon, close to shower/toliet building. Outlet is great for biking.

BEAUTIFUL PARK, MAINTENANCE OF THE PARK NEEDS SOME ATTENTION, TREE TRIMMING, PAINTING, ROAD REPAIR , BUT OVER ALL VERY NICE
PARK, VOLUNTEERS VERY NICE, I KNOW THE PARK IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT NOW, I HOPE WE SEE SOME IMPROVEMENT IN AREAS MENTIONED ABOVE, AND IT STARTS TO ENFORCE THE RULES

On Wednesday 8/18/2021 (the hottest day of the week) Evergy decided to cut power to all campgrounds at Melvern Lake. I was out riding my bike when they came around to tell us. There was no note on my camper when I got back; one of the neighbors told me. One of the RV'ers in our group is on oxygen 24/7. Thank goodness they were in a motor home & could use the generator. I was not as lucky as I have a travel trailer. It was over 90 degrees in my camper and I had to run the fridge on propane.
This was an unnecessary 8 hour outage. They told us they were doing upgrades at a substation. Why couldn't they have waited until the park was closed for the season for the upgrade?
Very disappointed in the way this was handled. I am (maybe was) a frequent camper at Melvern

Ants everywhere. Went to Lyndon & spent $20 to help—still had ants. Our neighbor had gnats so bad, she couldn’t go in & out the door.

Great location, nice view of the outlet lake. Only minor issue, was a few branches that should have been trimmed as they interfered with the slide-out on one side. The lake itself is close to a couple of small towns also, and reasonably close to Topeka and Emporia so one could get out and visit a few things in the local area as well as enjoying the campsite.
