Lucas Park

The park was very clean. People were friendly and respectful. Beautiful lake and easy to access camping spots.

The camp ground has excellent views of the lake. The cleanliness of the restrooms and showers needs improvement. There are no amenities like campfire wood etc...to be had. Some of the sites need to be graded and leveled, our site was one that needs improvement. The deep fire rings do not work well for viewing a camp fire, it takes way too much wood to properly enjoy the fire and to keep fire small, the older style fire rings are much better in that regard. The site could use more restrooms and better handicap devices in the shower(ie. No dressing bench).

We come here yearly and it has always been great experience. We appreciate all efforts the corps put into the park!

We had a great time and the campground was very quiet.

This campsite was absolutely beautiful the community was amazing, we had some troubles with the storm and everyone was so kind. Big bathrooms, beautiful land plenty to do and hike. We had a great time. I believe the it was the property owners that kept coming in and out like other reviews said but they were also very friendly.

The campgrounds and shower house are as good or better than they've ever been...no complaints there...and the camp pads have been improved with gravel, leveling, and gravel/stone around the hydrants...and the playgrounds are really nice.

Our ongoing complaint with the federal and state parks at Wilson are the boat ramps. The new "normal" at Wilson lake is the water level is going to be 3-6 feet low...the last 25 years have shown that (from memory, I know it has been 10 feet low and above conservation level a couple times...but, 3-4 feet low give or take seems to be the new normal). Only the Spillway ramp is improved to handle the new normal. Minooka, State, Otoe, and Lucas Point are inadequate from a dredging/dock standpoint...for goodness sake fix the $200 of bumpers on some of those docks and replace some cleats! And our main complaint with Lucas Point ramp is the inadequate protection from crosswinds...I know riprap embankments are expensive and that location has little natural protection due to its orientation...but, it is an investment that is needed to prevent injuries and damages...for now we'll drive the extra five minutes or so to the Spillway Ramp instead. We realize all of this costs money and that fees aren't enough...my vote will be to prioritize our federal parks over many other choices we make as a society.

We had a great experience. Site #12 was a great location with a couple options for easy lake entry. Site has water and electricity, but the hydrant was pretty far from the electric outlet. We had to go into Wilson and buy a longer hose. Make sure to hike to Rock Town. Definitely worth the time and energy. Bathrooms clean. Plenty of firewood laying around. Very windy.

I stayed in two different spots while I was there. Spot number 13 was not very level, but I was able to find some rocks and drive my camper up on the rocks to level it.. I moved a couple of days later to space number 12 and it was much nicer. Both spaces are big clean and right next to the water great view.. space number 12 had a great big shade tree which made the yard and the grass area so nice to enjoy. I’ll be stopping back and camping here again. This place is great.
