the park attendant was incredible! Firewood was delivered after hours and she still delivered firewood to anyone that needed it even though she was off the clock

This is a very well maintained and pleasant campground, but the roads leading to it are poorly marked, in poor repair, and are narrow to the point of being treacherous. The single lane, unlined road has several areas of broken pavement and no shoulders. The are few signs directing to the campground.

Trace Branch is a nice little campground located along the winding waters of Buckhorn Lake. Nestled back aways from any main highway, the drive to it passes along a winding mountain road (that narrows in places) where some larger RVs might not fit. The sites are more accommodating for small- to medium towables, vans and class C rigs. The staff was friendly and very helpful in recommending nature sites to see and the best means of accessing the campground for a future visit.

From Lexington, KY, take I-75 south 83 miles to London. Take exit 41 or 38 to Daniel Boone Parkway east and continue 44 miles to Hyden Spur. Exit towards Tim Couch Pass and turn left towards Thousandsticks onto Bull Creek Road.
Go 2.5 miles to KY Highway 257, then head north about 9 miles to the Confluence bridge. Turn right and cross the bridge, then take a left on Mosley Bend Road. Continue 2 miles to Trace Branch Campground on your left.
Trace Branch Campground is accessible via I-75, approximately 83 miles to the west, and the Daniel Boone Parkway, which connects to the campground via KY Highway 257.
