What Guests Are Saying
Cave Creek campground is highly praised for its cleanliness, friendly hosts, and enjoyable amenities, including a boat ramp and private showers. Many campers appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained facilities, making it a favorite spot for family gatherings and outdoor activities. However, there is concern about its potential closure and reduced operating schedule, which has saddened many regular visitors.

Always love camping at Cave Creek! Darlene and her husband make it a great experience! I do think that they need another shower house down at the bottom of the hill and have a spot that we can swim... But other than that great place!!

I stayed in campsite #48 near the end of June, when the heat rose to a blistering 96º. Even so, there was plenty of shade to be found and it was a game changer. I must say, this is one of the most beautiful campsites I've come across in Kentucky. On par with the best of Army Corps sites -- which in my opinion are consistently the best in the nation.
However, I have one gripe and it has nothing to do with the site, or the fine folks who work hard managing and maintaining the campground. Rather, It's with the previous campers. So this message is for them and frankly, anyone it may apply to:
The ground was littered with your cigarette butts. Everywhere. In the sweltering heat, I spent 1/2 hour picking them up and barely made a dent. I'm certain I have a bag of over 200.
Even on the ground all around the fire pit. Was it just too hard to flick them an extra 12 inches? Who are you? Why do you come to a beautiful place like this, feeling so unappreciative of your surroundings that you can leave such a mess? Maybe your house is such a pig pen that you just had to get away for a weekend? Did the campers creed ever once occur to you, to leave no trace and better than you found it? I'll answer that for you - obviously not.
If you are this person, please don't come back. Ever. Stay home, throw your cigarette butts in your own yard, or on your floor.
This is a special and beautiful place to be enjoyed by people who respect it. You clearly don't.
That said, yeah...big thumbs up to campsite #48. If you're a boondocker, you'll especially appreciate it...as there were nice pools of light perfect for solar panels. I'm sorry I couldn't get it entirely cleaned up, so the next person who has the privilege of staying here, lend a hand. If we all do this, it'll be back to pristine condition in no time. Happy camping!

Super friendly and helpful staff. The campground roads are very narrow and there are some fairly severe turns but once we were settled, we enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and the surrounding area was beautiful. We stayed in site #56.

We chose Cave Creek for the new mountain bike trail system that recently opened. Before riding the trail, a couple of Corp of Engineers guys stopped by to chat. One of them actually built the trail so he offered up some advice on riding it. Great guys!!
The campground and restrooms were clean. The attendant was fantastic. Beautiful views. Awesome MTB trails. We will definitely go back!!
