The 3pm or later mandatory check-in was challenging. I checked in at 3pm. I am a solo tent camper. It was getting dark before I had equipment set up complete. I did not notice site cleaning and maintenance from 12-3pm the following day. So the mandate does not make sense.
Site 73 has a concerning dying limb over where I wanted to position my tent.
One restroom/shower/laundry building was closed with "out of order" signs. The men's shower at the open one was confusing. I was almost finished before I discovered how to get hot water. Original plumbing has been replaced with no instructions for the replacement.
I did enjoy, but the mandate, the closure, the poor maintenance is disappointing. Army Corp can do better.

Had a great time, weather was pleasant, got to help with special needs children with the fishing. It was a humbling experience!

Kendall campground is one of OUR favorite places to camp. It is probably one of the best in Kentucky! Our only issue is the new policy of the corp of engineers strictly ENFORCING the 3:00 check in time. This places a strain on the check in station, and a great INCONVENIENCE on the campers sitting in line waiting to check in AFTER the 3:00 check in time! I really don’t have an answer for the person in charge who THINKS he has all the answers, but I REALLY don’t think that he’s thought this through thoroughly enough. I’m not saying that he’s wrong, but surely there’s some alternative to this policy. Maybe he should just ask for ideas from his personnel and the campers, and if he DID try this then maybe he should go back to the drawing board for more ideas.

The circle campsites are too close. The site our friends had had a site next to its fire pit 4’ from their camper. 3 Pm central time is too late to start check in.
