Mammoth Cave Campground

It was a 3 day weekend. The campground was full of families having a nice time. The facilities are ancient at the campgrounds and beautiful at the visitor center(s) there are 2 big centers adjacent to each other with big restrooms. The campground is under a thick canopy of trees and is damp. The picnic tables are cement. It is not comfortable, but adequate.

Great campsite! Walkable distance to the Visitor's Center and Lodge. Clean bathrooms! If you visit, definitely check out the Historic Cave Tour and many others offered around Mammoth Cave National Park. We camped in November which meant cooler temperatures and far smaller crowds.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Mammoth Cave National Park for 6 nights in mid November. The 1st 3 nights we stayed in a tent at the campground by the visiter’s center. The campsite was plently big enough for our 4 person tent and the campfire and picnic bench was great for all our needs. We also stayed near one of the restrooms and they were very clean. We took showers at the camper’s store with a coin operated shower ($1:50 for 4-1/2 minutes, plus a quarter for each additional 30 seconds if I remember correctly). It was a quick walk back and forth to the visitor's center where you purchase cave tour tickets. We did the Mammoth Cave tour and the dripstone tour. The last 3 nights we stayed at the lodge, which was nice because it had heat and AC, as well as our own private shower. Overall our experience was great all week and I hope to return again soon!

My wife and I visited Mammoth Cave National Park for three days in our campervan with our two dogs, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience! We stayed in Campground Loop C, which was peaceful and well-maintained. The sites were spacious, and the proximity to the park’s trails and visitor center made it incredibly convenient.

For the cave tours, we did the 4-hour Grand Avenue Tour and the 2-hour lantern-lit Great Onyx Lantern Tour. Both were amazing but completely different experiences! The Grand Avenue Tour showcased the vastness and diversity of the cave system, with jaw-dropping formations and an adventurous trek that felt like stepping into another world. Our tour guides, Brendan and Jackie were a great team and brought a ton of energy and knowledge to create an unforgettable experience. The Great Onyx Lantern Tour was more intimate and atmospheric, with the soft glow of lanterns adding a touch of mystery and history to the experience. Highly recommend doing a tour if you have the time and energy!

Outside the cave, we loved walking the surface trails and taking in the beauty of the surrounding forest. Our dogs enjoyed exploring the pet-friendly areas, though they couldn’t join us on the cave tours (understandable, of course).

If you’re visiting, bring good walking shoes for the tours and make sure to book your cave tours in advance—spots fill up quickly, especially for the unique lantern-lit ones. Mammoth Cave is a must-visit for anyone who loves adventure and natural beauty! 🐾 🚐

Good campground, close to coin showers. Lots of people who probably don't camp a lot surrounded us, and many animals came at night to check out all the food they'd left out. Felt like we got sniffed by animals ALL night, but our campsite itself was great.

The rest rooms were very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the cave tours and the leaders did a great job. The trip at Mammoth Cave was very enjoyable and we will be coming back.
