Mammoth Cave Campground offers campers a prime location to explore both the depths and surface treasures of Mammoth Cave National Park.

All wheels must remain on the pavement within the campground, as varying conditions can cause muddy ruts and erosion.
Mammoth Cave is an underground passageway with over 400 mi of naturally sculpted limestone and sandstone, making it the longest recorded cave system in the world. The grand-scale chambers and winding passageways were the inspiration for the park’s name.
The campground also serves as an entry point to 14 mi of hiking and biking trails, and is just a five-minute walk to the Visitor Center, where cave tours begin

First time tent camping in Kentucky and we were very happy with our experience. We loved our site (72C) and had plenty of room for our large tent. We did not have issues with mud or standing water after a few hours of rain. The fire ring is very large and ready for use (we bought large bags of firewood in nearby Cave City). The bathrooms were close and the cleanest I have seen at a campground. The Visitor Center for cave tours was walking distance. We did a short tour one day and a longer tour the next. We also explored the trails behind the campground and visitor center, as well as the well maintained bicycle path. Our trip was short, but full and satisfying. I would love to camp here again.
The Historic Cave tour exceeded our expectations! We were able to see so many unique sections of the cave and our guide was amazing and informative! The Sunset Terrace room was comfortable and roomy. Overall, we had a 10/10 experience!
This was one of the best sites I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms were clean and the sites are located right next to a very picturesque trail head that leads to the visitor center as well as other trails within the park.
I love Mammoth Cave NP. Our ranger guide, Chris, was amazing and fun. The crew in the visitors center were helpful and friendly. I can tell people really enjoy their jobs here. We were the very last campers in the campground the evening of November 30th so that was pretty cool as well as a privilege. Overall, it was an experience to remember and relish.
Mammoth Cave National Park was a highlight for us. I have never been down inside a cave so big, and I found it quite interesting how the Rangers told us about the known history of this wonder of the world.

Directions from the North: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 53 (Cave City Exit). Turn right onto KY-70. Follow 70/255 as it becomes the Mammoth Cave Parkway in the park. Follow the Mammoth Cave Parkway towards the Visitor Center. Turn left into the campground by the Cavers Camp Store.
Directions from the South: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 48 (Park City Exit). Turn left onto KY-255 and follow 255 as it becomes the Park City Road into the park. Follow Park City Road until it joins the Mammoth Cave Parkway; turn left. Follow the Mammoth Cave Parkway towards the Visitor Center. Turn left into the campground by the Cavers Camp Store.
The campground is accessible via Interstate 65, with exits at Cave City (Exit 53) and Park City (Exit 48) leading to KY-70 and KY-255, respectively. These highways connect to the Mammoth Cave Parkway, which provides access to the campground.
