We didn’t know that we would have to cross the green river ferry when coming in from the south entrance.
So we wasted about 2 driving hours that could have been avoided had we known. Our camper didn’t fit on the Ferry and we arrived 15 minutes after it closed. Closes at 6pm.
I am only posting in hopes that others see this and avoid that mistake. We had to drive around to the north entrance.

The site itself was nice. We had multiple tents and this site wasn't the most level. Also, we arrived at 7pm and the ferry closed at 6pm. Not a nice surprise. We had to drive over an hour around in the dark. We made the best out of a not enjoyable situation.

- Directions from the North: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 53 (Cave City Exit). Turn right onto KY-70. Follow 70/255 as it becomes the Mammoth Cave Parkway in the park. Follow the Mammoth Cave Parkway towards the Visitor Center. Turn left on the Green River Ferry Road. Cross the ferry and follow the signs to Maple Springs. Turn left onto Maple Springs Loop. Maple Spring Campground will be on the left. For trailers or large vehicles, use alternate directions. Vehicles boarding the ferry must not exceed 8 tons and have a length no more than 16 feet.
- Alternate Directions from the North:Take Interstate 65 to Exit 53 (Cave City Exit). Turn right onto KY-70. Follow 70/255 as it becomes the Mammoth Cave Parkway in the park. Turn left on HWY 70 to Brownsville. Make a right on HWY 259. Turn right onto HWY 728 which becomes HWY 1827. Then turn right onto HWY 1352 and follow signs to Maple Springs Group Campground. Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Site types & loops
- Sites 1-4 have electric and water, and are recommended for equestrian use with a tie-up area. No sewer or dump station available.
- Sites 1-4 are recommended for equestrians with electric and water; vault toilets are available. No sewer or dump station.
Vehicles & parking
- Green River Ferry is closed; alternate route takes 45 minutes. Ferry operates limited hours. RVs cannot use the ferry.
- Ferry is subject to last minute closures; RVs cannot board. Call for operational status. Ferry hours are 6am-6pm.
