What Guests Are Saying
Axtel campground is praised for its beautiful location, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Vickie, who ensures a pleasant experience for visitors. Many families enjoy the quiet atmosphere, spacious campsites with easy access to water activities, and a welcoming community of fellow campers. However, some guests noted issues such as low water levels, closed restrooms, and occasional noise, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences reported.

The campsite is beautiful and restrooms are clean. The address of the campsite is not listed on the website which caused us to go to the wrong area initially. Also The website is not user friendly and the fee to cancel/change reservation is about 50% even with a week notice.
Loved the site but was less than pleased with the recreation.gov booking.

I have loved Axtell and North Fork parks. I have been going there all my life. I took my children and now my grandkids. The lake is beautiful to swim in, so clear. Its also fun to kick back in a boat, ride around or just chill in a spot for the day. The lake is huge and the camp site are good size for small or big families. The park attendance at Axtell Jo and Don are also great people they are freindly and keep the place in order, any ?s they are there to help out. I will have to say though the lack of trees around the water sites where I have always camp need to be replaced. The trees were ate up or destroyed some how and they were not replaced. This makes me sad. They were giant trees..they will be missed. When in a tent we could use the shade from the heat. Not to mention it makes the site more peaceful. I really hope this is fixed for my grandkids children. There are shower houses and they were remolded this year. They look good. The beach is great to spend the day if no boat or just to hang out at while dinner is cooking. They have a boat dock. Nicks and they have excellent ice cream, gas, gift shop and boat rentals. The parks are Really nice places to take the family and get away for the week or weekend. Come and see for yourself you will love it! I'm sure of it!

Don and Jo (campground hosts) are responsible for a very clean and orderly campground. Grass is cut, restrooms are very clean.
The security gate is a great idea since it keeps non-campers from using the beach. All-in-all, I would rate my experiences at Axtel a 10.

Site 13 had some shade and a partial view of the lake and was pretty level. The hosts we're very helpful and friendly. Axtel is a beautiful camp and there are lots of activities nearby. We will return to this campsite if we're in this area again.

It was our first time camping in our new camper. The campgrounds is very close to where we keep our boat so itβs very convenient. Looking forward to next summer camping there a lot. Very clean campground.
