Axtel is the best! The sites are great! Very level. The bath houses are always clean when we are there. We love having the campers only beach. I would be there every weekend if I could!

Axtel itself was ok. Needed some trash cleanup in campsite area but was not far off from what is often found left behind. Pretty view. Definitely worth going during the week versus the weekend; got crowded which was expected but the blaring of disgusting music choices around kids was definitely no bueno. Bathrooms seemed to be well kept, cleaned daily which was definitely a benefit. Internet and phone service was spotty if of interest. The one thing that soured the camping experience was actually the host(s). The rudest host I have ever encountered and we enjoy many campgrounds in multiple states. I’ve never encountered anyone even remotely close to how she acted. I’m not sure if that was a real off day for her or if that is the norm but I was not the only one to comment on how short she was. Definitely not welcoming. Normally we get a little direction on where things are/where to go and there was zero of that as well. Hands down number one reason our family won’t be back and won’t recommend the campground. We go to have a peaceful family experience and enjoy others that love camping just as much as us. Sad she ruined a good thing.

We rented a tent site from Thursday to Tuesday and we didn’t get to check in until Saturday due to unpredictable circumstances and the lady at the toll house told me that if that had been Electrical site it would have been rented to someone else please tell me how is that possible since I paid for the site what gives her the right to rent a site that I paid for 😡

We left 2 days early due to thunderstorms and our tent being flooded. We have yet to be refunded for those days and was charged for 2 more days randomly for no reason. Can’t get ahold of anyone to settle the situation either. Been going here for 25 years but we will not be booking again until this is settled.

Great park, with large sites and a great view of the lake from almost everywhere
The park attendants are the best
