We had a great time just relaxing. It was the last weekend of the season, so a lot of the areas were closed, (Ex: beach). The camp host of loop A13 was an awesome person and very helpful. The issue that I see is that I was told that they cannot fix the roads that have potholes in them due to some type of survey that was done. I think it's crazy to have such a beautiful area for people to visit but they are not allowed to keep the area up. Just my opinion.
The camp sites were clean and seemed to be well taken care of as well as the bath house.

Great spacing, very clean, & the bathrooms were too 😃. Really loved all the trails right in the campground & others in quite close proximity. Definitely a spot I want to come back to. Thank you

We drove from out of state and planned a peaceful camping experience with our extended family/2 trailers. We found a double site that was perfect - isolated with a view of the lake. UNTIL the day after our arrival. The sound of chain saws and commercial wood chipping equipment went on for most of the next three days. We couldn’t carry on normal conversation around the campfire, it was so loud.
We understand normal maintenance might require this equipment but the campground was supposed to close for the season a week after our departure and this should have been scheduled for after the campground closes. The staff at the entrance gate was very helpful in assisting us to find the spot we did and upon our exit when we spoke with them about the noise, we were informed that it was something the US Forest Service was doing and they had no control over it.
I feel that the system is set up to insulate the operator and those running the campground. Who do we file a complaint with/ask for a refund from? The reservation was made through Recreation.gov, the campground is operated by Thousand Trails, the noise was being made by the “US Forest Service“ working in the campground.
Twin Knobs campground has some very nice campsites. And if those responsible for operating and maintaining the campground could coordinate maintenance activities for after the campground closes for the season, it would be a very, very nice place to stay. Sad to say, we did not experience that and were very disappointed.

I loved the campsite. It was large a good distance from other sites. The picnic tables and fire pit were well maintained and good size. The bath houses were very nice and well kept. Our site had good access to water, electric and sewer.
I was very surprised to learn that most sites do not have water. If we couldn't get a site with water & electric in the future, we would likely pass to find another campground.
