Beautiful grounds, well maintained, clean, spacious sites with ample privacy. Nice large picnic table, ample shade, fresh water spicket was nearby with potable water and were well spaced throughout the campground near each site. We had no issues with electric hookup for our camper. There's also 2 lanes at the dump station for filling fresh water tanks and emptying gray/black tanks at the same station. Being right next to the lake we did notice there were more flies/mosquitos to deal with than we've had at other campgrounds (our citronella candle did nothing to combat it), but this has nothing to do with the campground itself (and was as expected for the time of year, we were there in September). The only aspect of the campground that I found a bit strange/difficult to use was working the shower in the restroom. It's a single stall bathroom meaning one space with a toilet, sink, and open shower (no curtain). The lock on the exterior door worked which was a relief. However, I was concerned that my time showering would prevent someone else up from using the toilet. To operate the shower there's a push button that only allows a brief spray of water, and must be repeatedly pressed in order to fully bathe. I understand that this is to conserve water, but the spritz of water is so brief that it was cumbersome to use and made showering difficult. There appeared to be no way of adjusting the temperature either, but the shower did get nice and hot on its own. There were hooks conveniently located on the wall next to the shower for hanging your towel, however without a shower curtain it caused everything nearby to get wet; including the floor, which could present a slip hazard for the next guest. Otherwise, the bathrooms were very clean and stocked with handsoap, an automatic hand drier, and toilet paper. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they even took a bag of trash to the dumpster for us when they were driving by on the golf cart checking on the campsites.

The site was great, but I have never met a more hateful Camp host than the one at this location. And she was hateful for no reason. First she accused me of running over a campsite number post with my BRAND NEW van (which was miraculously unscathed from the event- because I didn’t do it!) and then was incredibly hateful because I pulled into an empty campsite so my husband could hook up to the camper a few minutes before we were leaving for good. Other campers even commented about it. (Her screaming was heard at multiple sites.)
Not to mention, the bathrooms stayed nasty. Or locked. (I’m assuming so they didn’t have to clean them???) Didn’t matter what time of day it was, they were dirty with much of the same filth that had been there the day before.
We’ve camped dozens of times at Twin Knobs and never had a problem. The weather was great, the site was beautiful, but the camp host was a big no, sadly. (We normally love the hosts because they are friendly older couples who stop to chat.)

Camping was okay but we had also rented the west group area for Sunday and the amphitheater for a wedding and paid a lot of money for the use. First when we went to the area it was not ready and the workers were unaware that there was a group coming. Not expectable since it was reserved back in may!!! Then when the wedding was fixing to start it was delayed for over 45 minutes because there was no electric!!! Therefore it being a warm day the cake melted!!! When we asked for help we were told we had to wait for an electrician but we went and got extension cords because we could not wait!! The area should of been prepped and checked long before we arrived!! So while we had a nice time camping over the weekend the wedding was stressful for the bride and groom since they paid for electric use!!!!

Since September of this year it had been about 20 years since I’d been to twin knobs and it’s beauty has only matured by 20 yrs. The camp sites we had (H6,11 and 12) were perfect and since ours (H12) was the common area for cooking, gathering, locking ourselves out of our Motorhome (really happened, 1st night!), it was plenty big enough for all of us, and we could barely see our neighbors bc of the mature trees. The staff was great! The shower houses were very clean. The sites were clean. I/we can’t wait to go back, and it’ll be much sooner than 20 yrs! And we already bought the Hide-A-Key!

Wonderful camping experience; spacious, and private sites located within short hike to Cave Run Lake. Also numerous options for shopping, dining and entertainment. Visited the Venue in Morehead, college town, and enjoyed the atmosphere!! Definitely will return soon!
