What Guests Are Saying
Waitsboro Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful setting with great views of Lake Cumberland, making it a lovely getaway for couples and families. The campground is clean, well-maintained, and features friendly staff who enhance the experience. However, some challenges include tight maneuvering for larger trailers and an inconveniently located dump station, which can be frustrating for newcomers. Overall, many campers enjoyed their stay and expressed a desire to return.

This was one of the strangest campgrounds we’ve ever stayed in. Many of the sites were up very short, steep driveways which had deep scars where campers had made contact with the pavement. The dump station was up a hill but not quite at the top which made it impossible to fully empty waste tanks. It’s certainly not a place we will choose again.

End of season, so only about six campers. Always a beautiful location. Our second visit and would go back. Power was a bit of a problem. Low voltage made it hard to sufficiently power even the basics in our rv.

This campground has NO signage to indicated there is a campground at the bottom of a very steep hill. The only sign warned that the road ended in the water. We got to the bottom of the hill and only saw a boat ramp, so we turned around and went back up the steep hill to try to figure out where we might have made a wrong turn. Maps kept indicting that the campground was down the hill so we finally decided it must be past the boat ramp, so we traveled back down the very steep hill and that time noticed a travel trailer up ahead. A little bit farther we found the place to check in. The volunteer seemed VERY amused that we had had trouble finding the campground. We then proceeded to our camp site (#15) only to find that not only did we need to back up a very steep hill but also had to curve around while backing to miss hitting a wall. The driveway started out asphalt but turned to gravel halfway up into the spot - hard on a transmission trying to back uphill on loose gravel. The view was wonderful - the only redeeming thing about this campground.

Had a wonderful peaceful stay mid October. The view was wonderful from so many sites. It’s true, most sites are nicely staggered both horizontally and vertically, for view and privacy. We walked the whole park, which was hilly and scenic, scoping out spots for the future- so many great spots! Make sure you have leveling blocks. Bring all your needs- the stores are not too close, besides a small neighborhood grocery. During the week, there were few people there. Near the weekend we had neighbors that were not so considerate. We never saw anyone manning the office for checking or checkout, which was a little strange. There was a host site, but never saw a person there. Loved staying here!

Sites 22 is tricky parking. Dump is hard to dump for a bigger rig, water hose was broken not allowing washout of tanks. Otherwise very lovely and enjoyable park, friendly staff.
