All the staff were super friendly especially the older lady at the camp office. I can tell that the staff are well cared for :)

Assateague Island National Seashore Campground offers a beautiful and unique camping experience, highlighted by the presence of wild horses and scenic beaches. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, well-maintained sites, and the variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, and exploring the natural surroundings. However, some concerns were raised about mosquito levels, restroom cleanliness, and noise disturbances, suggesting that campers should come prepared with insect repellent and be mindful of food storage to avoid attracting wildlife. Overall, the campground is regarded as a special place that fosters family traditions and memorable experiences.

The high winds cut short the planned stay at this site. The winds have buried the picnic tables at the sites. I was able to get most of my bike rides in. Hope to be back in August for a better experience.

Quiet beaches, dog friendly area-beautiful campsites-paddle boarding and crabbing in the bay, and wild horses!! The front country area of this park has plenty of space to find your own section of beach. Great area to venture around in a bike, or walk from your site. Keep a clean campsite (horses are food habituated) and be prepared for bugs, will absolutely visit again

I’ve been coming here 30 years. It’s well maintained and so peaceful. Plenty of horses to see, the beaches are nice. I appreciate the work the park employees do, this is a beautiful place.

Assateague is always lovely. We had pretty hot weather for early June. The water was cold but swimmable (we really wanted to cool down). This campsite is a nice choice for the walk-in ocean side ones as it is nestled in some trees and is pretty private (unlike the ones closer to the beach that are out in the open). It is protected from the wind. However, as it is in the little dip surrounded by trees, it is hotter at this site! And very very buggy!! Flies during the day; mosquitoes at night. And sometimes you want wind for a breeze / to keep bugs away. Also, there is a very persistent raccoon that will come at night. The under-table food storage area will keep out horses but not raccoons!! Make sure your food is secure in a bin/cooler/etc., not just bags, to keep safe from the trash pandas. Also, the sand level of the dunes is much higher than the pictures! The marker with the site number is just out of the ground enough to show the number and arrow — look for it more at foot level. I don’t think the horses come to this site much (or at least they didn’t for us), but it was fun to see them on the beach cooling off!!

This place exceeded all expectations as this was my first visit. I was only there approximately 15 hours but it was def worth it. The campgrounds were in great shape and very walk-able.
All the staff I encountered were very helpful and very sociable and friendly.

Nice location near the bay, just be prepared for no shade and mosquitos depending on how the wind is blowing!

Great place. We were a little later into the season and it was a warm spring so the bugs were bad. But the beaches were great. Sites great. Hosts great. We will continue to go back every year.
