Assateague Island National Seashore Campground offers a beautiful and unique camping experience, highlighted by the presence of wild horses and scenic beaches. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, well-maintained sites, and the variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, and exploring the natural surroundings. However, some concerns were raised about mosquito levels, restroom cleanliness, and noise disturbances, suggesting that campers should come prepared with insect repellent and be mindful of food storage to avoid attracting wildlife. Overall, the campground is regarded as a special place that fosters family traditions and memorable experiences.

Amazing stay at the Assateague Idland National Seashore! We stayed for 2 weeks. Our site was clean and had excellent positioning for our solar. The staff was very friendly , polite and helpful! The out houses and shower were clean and well maintained.
Would love to seen some type of solar heat for the showers.
The grounds were very well maintained. I highly recommend you give them a try when in the area!!

The campground is lovely with easy access to the beach. However, the only way to get to this site is by walking through at least one other campsite, which felt odd, and a little invasive, particularly in the evening.

We came with 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids ages 9-13) and 2 small dogs. Had an absolutely fantastic time!
No cell service at the campsite for either of us (T-Mobile and Verizon). Brought a hot spot that didn't work either.
This particular site is right in front of an opening in the fence to walk down to the shore. Our kids really appreciated that easy access. It is one of the sites furthest from the bathrooms, but we didn't find the walk terrible. We loved that you could just carry your fishing gear down to the shore and toss a line in. We also went crabbing every morning to catch our dinner and collected a ton of mussels on the bayside.
We did not bring bikes, but wish we did. This area is fantastically set up for biking around to different places, including the little shop on the island. We also plan to bring our canoe next time for some adventure into the bay. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We plan to make this our annual family vacation spot.

We stay at the walk-in sites every year. It's my favorite place on Earth!
