This is the third year we have camped on the beach and the kids love the experience and continue to look forward to it each year. We have a canopy tent with a screen to keep the bugs out and it would get hot in the direct sun without it. The group sites tend to have more space but both years we camped there ended up having more noise from neighbors. Enjoy!

Beware of heavy flies & mosquitoes, bring lots of bug spray!
Beautiful place to camp & visit! Take your kids to the visitor center for their museum and to become a junior ranger. They also have a schedule of things to do!

Sooo many flies that bite. It was brutally hot (to be expected), but between getting bit, struggling to carry all our gear into our site, and zero shade we weren’t the biggest fans and probably won’t come back. Not the worst experience, but definitely far from the best!

This was a great experience. The miles of undeveloped beach is something that is becoming extinct in today's world. Definitely worth experiencing. I loved hanging out with a small group of ponies just chilling down the beach from me. They hung out there for hours. People randomly circling all around them with cameras didn't phase them one bit. It was great. The sand was beautiful. The campsite was great. Way more private than I thought it would be too. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Fantastic place! Clean and easy to use facilities. I even saw a worker cleaning up the campground at one point who was very friendly and helpful with answering questions. I hope to return again soon!

It was super convent with having multiple stores in the island for must need items for camping, Excellent camp sites between both the bay and beach, super friendly staff and amazing the amount of horses that we have seen

We always have an absolutely amazing experience at Assateague National Seashore. This year, though, we were incredibly sad to find out that there are no lifeguards for the foreseeable future. This was deeply upsetting, as we have small children, and find great comfort from the presence of the lifeguards. We hope that next year when we return, the lifeguards will be back.

An entrance fee is required unless you possess an America the Beautiful annual or lifetime pass. Take the first right to the ranger station to register and check in.
The campground is accessible via US Route 50 and MD Route 611, which provides direct access to the area.
