Well kept sites, trails, and beach. Five Tides had great food, staff very pleasant as well as the camp hosts. Beautiful place and horses are a plus - although a bit messy.

Assateague Island National Seashore Campground offers a beautiful and unique camping experience, highlighted by the presence of wild horses and scenic beaches. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, well-maintained sites, and the variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, and exploring the natural surroundings. However, some concerns were raised about mosquito levels, restroom cleanliness, and noise disturbances, suggesting that campers should come prepared with insect repellent and be mindful of food storage to avoid attracting wildlife. Overall, the campground is regarded as a special place that fosters family traditions and memorable experiences.

We camped at spot 15 on loop 1 in mid September and it was the perfect location. Breezy, no bugs. Close to the beach, but far enough from other campers. The only problem some people might encounter is from the parking spot, to the camp area there is a little bit of a hill. So if you have mobility issues, I wouldn't suggest it.

Was a wonderful place to camp. We had horses grazing through the campground. Very short walk to a beautiful clean beach. Be prepared there is no light at all in or near vault toilet. Bonus - no bugs! (Mid Sept) Ocean Loop 2; site #34 Need a hot shower you can pay at State campground that you pass on the way in.

The campgrounds were spacious and clean. We had no problem finding a place to stay with a one weeks in advance reservation. We booked the last week in September and found it to be cool in the evenings and warm during the day. It was also very quiet at night. The ponies were wonderful to see and the rangers were very knowledgeable. The beach was beautiful…and we were very happy that dogs were allowed in the campground and beaches.

Very nice place. Mosquitos are bad on the forresty side. Music from ocean city keeps you awake at night. Outhouse need cleaning more frequently. Otherwise nice place.

This park is wonderful. Check-in was straightforward and easy, as was navigating to our beach tent site. The toilets were well-maintained, and it appeared that the showers were too, but we didn't stay long enough to use them. The horses woke me up around 3 in the morning, but they didn't bother us or our stuff. My only complaint is the people driving through the park who stop in the middle of the road to take photos of the horses. Please be considerate and pull over to let others go by.

We had a lot of fun, it wasn’t too far of a walk to the Oceanside campsite. The bugs weren’t too terrible except for like in the marshy sections. Didn’t have any issues with the ponies being nosey or anything.
