Assateague Island National Seashore Campground offers a beautiful and unique camping experience, highlighted by the presence of wild horses and scenic beaches. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, well-maintained sites, and the variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, and exploring the natural surroundings. However, some concerns were raised about mosquito levels, restroom cleanliness, and noise disturbances, suggesting that campers should come prepared with insect repellent and be mindful of food storage to avoid attracting wildlife. Overall, the campground is regarded as a special place that fosters family traditions and memorable experiences.

We had a very good time, except when the horses kept coming to the campsite, but don't get me wrong they are beautiful animals every single one of them. The ocean was beautiful, my grandson had a wonderful time

First time camping Oceanside. Loved the site we had! It was easy access from the car, and we could see the ocean from our tent. Clear night skies were amazing with the stars, and the sounds of the waves and nocturnal birds were so peaceful! Wish we could’ve stayed for more than two nights. Next time we camp, I’m hoping to reserved the same site. Also, showers and bathrooms were very close to the site, and they were clean. Winds were minimal first night and day, but it became more windy the morning of check out. Definitely needed two people to help take down and pack up the tent. Assateague is one of my favorite spots on the east coast, and camping there is an awesome way to experience it. And as always, I love seeing the horses there; only saw Happy Camper’s band close to our site, but no horses came up on the beach where our tent was while we were there.

My friend and I had an amazing time camping at the seashore! We were fortunate enough to have a spot on the beach. The campsites were well maintained and nothing beats waking up to a sunrise over the water. The ponies were also so fun to observe!
Make sure to be prepared for the weather conditions and respect the park policies, you'll have a wonderful time here.

We had a great time. The weather was perfect, no rain.
We did the Up the Bay Pony Boat Tour in Chincoteague and saw quite a few horses and also some dolphins.
Would recommend either/both of these activities.

We stayed one night and had a wonderful time. The campsites were clean. The beach was lovely. The stars at night were beautiful! We saw all kinds of wildlife. The flies and mosquitoes are crazy though. You don’t want to bring those home with you. My one big complaint was that the bathrooms were disgusting. I’m glad we only stayed one night because I only used them once. The next morning we drove to a gas station to use a bathroom because I didn’t want to use them again. Otherwise a great time!

The group campsite was perfect for our group. It was far enough away from other groups yet close enough to the bathrooms. Being that close to the ocean was perfect and very convenient. It had everything we needed!

Great place. We were a little later into the season and it was a warm spring so the bugs were bad. But the beaches were great. Sites great. Hosts great. We will continue to go back every year.
