Assateague Island National Seashore Campground offers a beautiful and unique camping experience, highlighted by the presence of wild horses and scenic beaches. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, well-maintained sites, and the variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, kayaking, and exploring the natural surroundings. However, some concerns were raised about mosquito levels, restroom cleanliness, and noise disturbances, suggesting that campers should come prepared with insect repellent and be mindful of food storage to avoid attracting wildlife. Overall, the campground is regarded as a special place that fosters family traditions and memorable experiences.

We spent 2 nights in the Bayside campground...short walk to beautiful sunsets. Facilities were clean. Stayed in B loop which offered a little more privacy than the other two loops but overall very impressed with the campground. Will return.... and the ponies didn't disappoint us with multiple visits while we were there.

I must admit I was a bit "miffed" at first as I could not renew my OSV pass~ I brought cash and expected to renew it at the ranger station as i have been doing for the past 30 years. No one told me I could not do this and there was nothing posted on the website to warn me ! Please do find a way to alert people that they can no longer do these thingsin person.

Love this place. Would have given a 5 star if not for the chemical toilets not having lights; some do by the ocean but in bay side camping area they don’t have electricity to the buildings.

Beautiful park. Loved the beach and the horses. The mosquitoes were not a problem being there in October but there were a lot of flies, probably attracted by the horse manure. Also, painful burrs were everywhere and would get stuck in my dogs’ feet. Mostly a lovely place though.

Great spot and would definitely would consider going back. We were in the beachside sites with remote parking. It is fairly primitive with pit toilets and cold only showers to rinse off. We enjoyed being on the row closest to the beach, and it was pretty empty so we didn’t have neighbors. If you go when it’s busier, the next row in has a bit of shrubbery and the sites appear slightly more spaced out.

This was my second camping visit to Assateague. The bay sites are flat, spacious and clean. I also found the people incredibly friendly and helpful. It was the perfect place for me to restore my soul after writing a few hard chapters in my most recent memoir.

Beautiful. Tent camped in high winds and all conditions pretty much but it was great. Loved seeing the horses come by. Loved seeing all the new trail expansions made within the last 13 years. Totally, however, would be awesome to get up to STATE PARK STANDARDS and install DECENT BATHROOMS. Other than that, no complaints at all. Loved it ♡♡♡
