What Guests Are Saying
Greenbelt Campground offers a great location close to Washington D.C., providing a peaceful, forested setting with well-maintained sites and convenient access to amenities. Many visitors appreciate the clean campsites, hot water in showers, and helpful staff, making it a good choice for camping near the city. However, some guests noted that the bathroom facilities could use improvements in cleanliness and maintenance. Overall, it’s recommended for its affordability and accessibility to both urban and natural attractions.

Greenbelt National Park is very convenient to Washington, DC. It is about five miles from Greenbelt Metro Station where even an RV can park all day for $4.95 Monday through Friday in its huge parking lot. Parking is free Saturday and Sunday. It is an easy metro ride into DC. We stayed at the campground 14 nights and took public transportation’s into DC 11 days. We drove to the National Arboretum and Mt. Vernon two days where parking was free. We stayed at Greenbelt NP during the Cherry Blossom Festival in April and there were only a few sites occupied. The campground is very convenient to DC, but it could use some improvements, especially to the roadways and paved parking pads at the campsites. One should be aware there are very few showers and we were glad the campground wasn’t full. Staffing seemed quite limited, but probably because it was early spring We would definitely return to Greenbelt NP if we returned to DC.

Great location if looking to find a metro spot into DC vs driving. Greenbelt only 10 minutes drive with plenty of parking. Bathroom windows don't open leaving floors damp and wet, but clean. I didn't take a shower so I can't speak to that. Quiet, Clean. Friendly.
One other note: not all spots are level in loop B.

A nice park in the middle of suburbia. Very quiet during the week in April. The only thing tGreenbelt really needs is updated restrooms. They are functional, but very dated, now well over 50 years old.

for the price and location and proximity to park area and walking trails it was well worth it. i'm not sure how it was on the weekend when it fills in but during the week it seemed to be plenty of space to spread out. the facilities are a bit rustic but i think the price is really reasonable. and it's not far at all from grocery stores and such. and if you have children I'm pretty sure the A loop is for people with kids or kids groups. clearly the people care about the campground because it was clean and organized.
