What Guests Are Saying
McCoy's Ferry Campground is praised for its beautiful riverfront location, well-maintained facilities, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for camping, fishing, and biking along the C&O Canal towpath. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the portajohns and the spaciousness of the campsites. However, some guests noted noise from passing trains and occasional issues with cleanliness upon arrival, but overall, it remains a favored spot for repeat campers.

What a pretty little spot. Not much in the way of amenities: porta-potties and a water pump. Nice and flat terrain right on the banks of the Potomac.

We have stayed at Ferry Campground several times. Besides the history and beautiful surroundings by the River, the campground is very well maintained and consistent every time we have camped there. We keep coming back!

McCoys Ferry campground is a great place to camp to bike the C and O canal towpath. Going west, you go by Fort Frederick State Park in 2 miles, then Big Pool fishing pond, and then within 10 miles or so, you arrive in the trail town of Hancock, MD which has, among other attractions, restaurants and a full-service bike shop/camp spot.

Great location right on the river. Only downside is there are train tracks on both sides of the river. So if you can’t handle the train noise this spot may not be for you. Myself I don’t mind it
