What Guests Are Saying
McCoy's Ferry Campground is praised for its beautiful riverfront location, well-maintained facilities, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for camping, fishing, and biking along the C&O Canal towpath. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the portajohns and the spaciousness of the campsites. However, some guests noted noise from passing trains and occasional issues with cleanliness upon arrival, but overall, it remains a favored spot for repeat campers.

Had a great 4 days on Site 8 at McCoy's Ferry Campground. Had 27 people with 14 tents on the site with plenty of room to spare. Quiet and peaceful away from all the other campers in the campground. No one could hear us laughing and carrying on. EXCELLENT SITE,CAMPGROUND and AREA!!

What I liked most about the campsite was that you could park your vehicle in your sight. It was very shady and clean. The permanent bathroom was better than Porta-Jon. Easy access to river was nice. Bring firewood. The drain for the pump needs to be cleared. It was backed up and mosquito larvae were in the standing water.

The map online made it seem like spot #10 was on the water when in fact it was on the other side of the road.
The ground was impenetrable when trying to stake down the tent. We moved our tent between 2 different spots and there was no way to secure our tent. We ended up leaving after 3 hours of trying to set up the tent.
I have been tent camping for over 30 years and have set up tents in all terrain so to walk away was not an easy decision.
I did not get a refund or an option to change dates and/or location.
