What Guests Are Saying
McCoy's Ferry Campground is praised for its beautiful riverfront location, well-maintained facilities, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for camping, fishing, and biking along the C&O Canal towpath. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the portajohns and the spaciousness of the campsites. However, some guests noted noise from passing trains and occasional issues with cleanliness upon arrival, but overall, it remains a favored spot for repeat campers.

Needs better (larger ? more?) signage at camping entrance re "Registered Campers Only". Unnerving - the amount of cars that drive to end and turn around and leave. Causes safety concerns.
This said - grateful the use of this beautiful campground.
Our national parks need funding.

Being on the river was nice, and camp site #6 offered a lovely direct view of the river. But, at least 3 trains went by overnight, loud enough to wake me up. Also, at 12:30am a boat covered in spotlights trolled up the river to do what looked like night fishing. While the passengers were having a lovely time, I felt like a party boat with the brightness of the sun was taking forever to pass the site.
Overall: Friendly active site with boat ramp to the Potomac river, but avoid if you're looking for any kind of "getting away from others" kind of feeling.
