What Guests Are Saying

The Paw Paw Tunnel Campsite is praised for its beautiful location near the C & O Canal and Potomac River, offering clean facilities and a pleasant environment with ample shade from trees. Many visitors enjoyed their stay and appreciated the campground's proximity to attractions, despite some concerns about noise from the nearby road and potential safety issues in the parking lot. Some sites are close together, making them less ideal during hot weather, and carrying supplies to the sites can be a hassle.

The parking lot is insecure and a place for drugs and people to use to threaten you with their cars. At 1:30 AM I called the police and at 2:35 AM the police arrived and the car of party goers drove off. Not a place to go if you are a cyclist on your own.

Sites are very close together. Not much shade. Ok for cooler weather but would not recommend in hotter months.

Nice camping area. Unfortunately, squatters were in my site when I arrived. They didn't want to move but I insisted. Otherwise, my scout troop enjoyed our stay.

Very close to a main road so loud. And parking lot used by shady characters at 3:30AM. But setting is nice, right by trail and water is potable.

My family had a great stay at the Paw Paw Tunnel campground. The location was perfect, next to the C & O Canal, Potomac River, and a short walk to the tunnel. Even though it is close to a road and a railroad it was relatively quiet. The campground has basic facilities but was clean and well maintained. The only drawback to the site is having to carry all of our supplies from our car across the campground to our site. Next time, I would pick a site closer to the parking lot or bring a wagon or less stuff.
