What Guests Are Saying

The Paw Paw Tunnel Campsite is praised for its beautiful location near the C & O Canal and Potomac River, offering clean facilities and a pleasant environment with ample shade from trees. Many visitors enjoyed their stay and appreciated the campground's proximity to attractions, despite some concerns about noise from the nearby road and potential safety issues in the parking lot. Some sites are close together, making them less ideal during hot weather, and carrying supplies to the sites can be a hassle.

My family had a great stay at the Paw Paw Tunnel campground. The location was perfect, next to the C & O Canal, Potomac River, and a short walk to the tunnel. Even though it is close to a road and a railroad it was relatively quiet. The campground has basic facilities but was clean and well maintained. The only drawback to the site is having to carry all of our supplies from our car across the campground to our site. Next time, I would pick a site closer to the parking lot or bring a wagon or less stuff.

Camp was clean and it was great that they even left out some cut timber for us to use for a fire.

When we arrived, someone else had already set up a large camp on our reserved campsite.

I gave it two stars. The campsite was adequate, however, the description stated amenities that included a water pump. This is a reservation site. When I arrived, the pump had no handle. I sent a maintenance request to alert them. I received a reply stating that the fine print (not in the description. I had to hunt for it) said a pump handle may not be attached and I am to bring my own water. THIS IS A PAID SITE. I would think that the money I paid would be used for site maintenance. Apparently I thought wrong. I’m dealing with bureaucracy so this a battle nobody will win.
