The D. H. Day Campground is wonderful. The campsites are well maintained and shaded by beautiful trees. They are spaced apart nicely. Campers can feel like they are in their own private space. The gorgeous beach and Glen Haven are a short walk from the campground. The location is centrally located to everything the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has to offer.

Well-mapped out for picking my site. Late in the evening & just needed a place to rest for the night. Good choice!

The pit toilets were very smelly and needed to be emptied
The trails around the camp were great and we enjoyed swimming in the lake as well as visiting the new by park museums. The volunteers at the museums were excellent we really enjoyed learning about the history of the area. The campground is convenient to other part of the National Seashore and it would recommend it to anyone wanting to see the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Been coming to this campground for 10 years annually as of this year, and it's never disappointed. It is quiet and beautiful, and being fortunate enough to score a site along the heritage trail along the back super close to the beach as well. It's truly a magical place. Beware of poison ivy though - the reviews stating that it is absolutely everywhere are accurate. Not hard to spot though. We managed to camp with a 3 year old and even she was good at recognizing and avoiding it :)

I've been coming to this campground for over a decade and it is one of my favorite places. The campsites are well-spaced giving you privacy and a feeling of seclusion. You can walk right to the beach, there's a nice bike trail passing through the campground, and Glen Arbor is nearby for food, coffee, or supplies. All of the campground staff and park rangers have always been kind and helpful.
My main complaint is that it is overgrown with poison ivy. I always remember there being poison ivy, but this year seemed especially bad. In my twenties I didn't care so much, I just avoided it the best I could and hoped for the best. Now that I am bringing young kids along, it is a full time job keeping them, and their toys out of the poison ivy, which was very thick and along the entire perimeter of our site.
My next complaint is the lack of showers. For a campsite this large and popular, you would think it would have showers but it unfortunately does not. We ended up leaving a day early mainly for this reason.
Other than that, if you visit in late September, your campsite might be under an Oak tree sending down a barrage of acorns.
All in all, it's a great campground that I will definitely continue to visit. I just wish they could bring in goats or do something to get the poison ivy under control and also add showers.

This was a fantastic campsite for tent camping. Quiet, easy access to lake and beach, great walking trails, friendly campsite ranger, clean vault toilets, picnic table and fire ring in solid working order, big tent pads.

Just perfect. Quiet, clean, spacious. Outhouses very clean. Wood kept dry. Beach a walk from the campsites.

Overall, the campground was nice. The site we had provided plenty of space for us, it was nicely shaded and close to the water and vault toilets. The toilets were clean but were a bit smelly and needed to be pumped out because it was towards the end of the season. My one big complaint is the lack of a shower house. We want to come back and stay longer, but tent camping for more than 2 or 3 days without access to a shower is tough. Cleaning myself in Lake Michigan also seems like a bad idea. Speaking of Lake Michigan, the campground's beach is great! Install a shower house or two on site and you'd get a 10 from me next time.

Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy is abundant at the campground and throughout the lakeshore. Tent pads and campsite driveways are kept clear of poison ivy. However there may be poison ivy lining the boundary of the campsite.
