What a cute little campground tucked away from the city of Mio. There are multiple places to get to the river. I appreciated having trash and the pit toilet. There was always toilet paper in there which was a bonus. Nice large sites too!

Camping site was very short. Also noticed a lot of dead trees that could fall during high winds.

Love the camping but was unimpressed with how little the previous campers or staff clean up. There was toilet paper and tampons all over the site when I arrived and I had to clean before setting up. I believe this to be attributed to the thousands of flies that attack when using the provided toilet that makes campers choose to go to the bathroom outside instead. Normally I love this place but the staff and campers both need to clean up better. Maybe fly tape in the toilet would be helpful.

A beautiful area with trails that lead down to the Au Sable River. Bring a bow saw & hatchet for cutting fallen trees into firewood, or else find someone selling it locally. I went to the (Amish) General Store on Kittle Road & found a guy selling split Birch wood. I've only been to the Au Sable Loop in the Fall. Pretty cool at night, but there were hardly any bugs that bothered us.

Beautiful, small forest campground near the river. Campsites are wooded and private.

Policies & Rules
General
- As a visitor to the National Forest, you are asked to follow certain rules designed to protect the Forest, natural resources and to provide for public safety of visitors. These rules are available to you online or at any office of the Huron-Manistee National Forests. Please take time to read and understand them. General Topic orders apply across the Forests. Applicable Orders: - Au Sable National Scenic River Corridor; R904-14-18 - Motorized Vehicle Use of Roads, Trails and Off-road Areas; R904-14-02 - Occupancy and Use; R904-14-03
- Forest quiet hours apply.
- Some sites are available on a first-come, first serve basis.
- You must occupy your site within 24 hours of the start of your reservation. Contact the Forest Service to request a late arrival or your site may be forfeited.
- Do not tie or tack anything to standing trees, including but not limited to pets, laundry lines, or garbage bags.
- You may use downed wood for firewood. Keep fires within the fire ring. Do not leave hot campfires unattended. Make sure your ashes are cool to the touch before you leave.
- Don't move firewood: To limit the spread of invasive tree-killing pests, firewood from outside the area is not permitted. Some states have quarantines and may confiscate your firewood. Please help protect our forests from invasive species by obtaining your firewood at or near your camping destination and burning it on-site. Visit dontmovefirewood.org for more information
- Fireworks and use of fireworks are not permitted.
- ORVs may only be operated on roads and trails signed as open for their use. ORVs may not be used within campgrounds.
- This site is not gated during the off season. It not maintained in winter. Access road and/or parking lot are not plowed. No toilet facilities are available.
