This site is incredible, but be warned - if you don't like hiking all your stuff in to the site, if you need water or electricity, if you are scared of snakes, if you need cell service to survive... THIS IS NOT THE SITE FOR YOU. This has to be the most rugged and awesome campsite I've ever stayed at. The hike in is no joke if you are carrying a lot of stuff, firewood included. I ended up using the inflatable boat I brought to haul stuff back to the boat landing instead of walking it out.
You have the whole peninsula to yourself, and essentially the whole lake to yourself. With Verizon we had no signal at all, but the stars at night were beyond words. The loons were singing all night, the kids were catching snakes and fish all day. We saw a giant snapping turtle under the footbridge on the path. There is an awesome outhouse with a great breeze :D
If you're up for a real off-the-grid adventure, this might be the site for you, but if you've got a lot of gear and younger kids you may want to pass on this one.

It’s a bit of a walk to get in the site, like 2 blocks-ish . highly recommend you haul gear by boat instead if you have anything heavy because you have to walk across a couple narrow bridges. Very private and secluded peninsula, there’s a few fisherman around during the day, but they leave. Nice flat area for tent , easy access to a sandy area for your boat or kayak. There’s a private albeit exposed toilet around the corner and up a little hillside, no problem there unless you have mobility issues. The only issue with this site is there was a ton of mosquitoes at night but that’s to be expected. There’s also a great walking trails around.: didn’t see any other people. We went fishing, but didn’t catch anything except little pan fish near the shore. A great spot if you’re looking to get away from the crowds.

Very scenic camping location. We used our paddle board, caught lots of small pan fish (which was super fun for our 6-year old) and hiked the trails, and enjoyed listening to the peels and loons in the evening. Could not have asked for a better time. Looking forward to a longer return trip!

From Munising, MI: take State Route M-28 to Wetmore and turn south (right) on Forest Highway 13.
- Travel about 15 miles, then turn left on Forest Service Road 2173 at the Petes Lake Campground sign.
- Turn south (right) at the sign for McKeever Lake. The campsite is accessed through the boat launch area.
Ewing Point Campsite is accessible via State Route M-28, which connects to Munising and is approximately 15 miles from the campsite via Forest Highway 13.

Policies & Rules
General
- Pack-In, Pack-Out Policy
- There is a 14-day stay limit.
- No drinking water provided. Visitors must bring their own drinking water
- Campsite cannot be left unattended for more than 24 hours.
- Campsite must be occupied the first night of reservation.
- Off-road vehicles are not permitted
- The trail to the campsite is primitive and includes a narrow 20-foot bridge; the trail is approximately 650 feet in length.
- Don't move firewood: To limit the spread of invasive tree-killing pests, firewood from outside the area is not permitted. Some states have quarantines and may confiscate your firewood. Please help protect our forests from invasive species by obtaining your firewood at or near your camping destination and burning it on-site. Visit dontmovefirewood.org for more information.
