The cabin was beautiful and the setting was far enough away from the main trail to provide a sense of privacy. It was clean and comfortable!

Grand Island Cabins offer a clean, well-furnished experience with excellent amenities like a screened-in porch, propane grill, and proximity to beautiful beaches. Guests appreciate the rustic charm and the opportunity for outdoor activities like biking and hiking. While the cabins can be dark and the mattresses firm, overall experiences are highly positive, with many recommending the cabins for their serene and picturesque setting.

Beginning in fall and throughout winter, ferry service to the island is closed. Access to the island is only by personal watercraft, or, if the lake is frozen, access via foot or snowmobile. Please call ahead to find out if there is ice or open water. Crossing Lake Superior to get to Grand Island is at your own risk. Once on Grand Island, cabins can be accessed by hiking, biking, skiing, or use of snowmobile depending on the season. Sunset Cabin is located on the West Rim Trail approximately 3.6 mi from the island ferry landing.
