Hurricane River Campground is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Superior, with clean facilities and well-maintained sites that offer privacy. Campers enjoy the easy access to hiking trails, pristine beaches, and the soothing sound of waves. However, many reviews mention issues with mosquitoes and the need for better campground management, including the presence of hosts and clearer information. Overall, it’s seen as a lovely spot, especially for hikers and nature lovers.

I have camped at numerous state and national campgrounds and this was my favorite! The sites were secluded and beautiful. Facilities were clean. What made the stay outstanding was the campground host (Cheri) and the ranger (Matt) who regularly made their way through the grounds. We never had to worry about any overbuilt fires or noise. I will be back!

The campsite was rustic and beautiful and perfect for visiting pictured rocks! There’s a lamp stand for your lantern and you’re surrounded by woods, it was private and great! My 4 young kids loved it!

We loved our visit. It was our first time to Pictured Rocks. We were in the upper campground and found the site very pleasant.

Upper loop is a good alternative to lower loop, even if you’re not on the water. It was a nice little site.

Beautiful campground on the shore of Lake Superior. Trailhead to the Au Sable Lighthouse starts there. Easy to get to Grad Marais, the Log Slide Overlook and Sable Falls.
