Great campground! Was taken aback by bring scolded by camp host for our happy chatter around the campfire. We had three sites, 10 mature adults (alcohol was not a factor) and had to break up our family time around 9 because we were too loud for her. I understand quiet time, but it wasn't like we were partying and whooping it up.

We were able to locate our camping spot quickly and set up camp. Unfortunately the mosquitos were bad and it was very windy. It rained through the night. We began to hike out to AuSable lighthouse but due to cold and wind the grandkids and grandmother turned back. Our grandkids did enjoy camping. We drove to Chapel Rock trailhead early about twenty minutes away from campsite and hiked out before the trail became too crowded.

Sites were divided by trees but was still able to see neighbor to the left. Wasn’t really a problem though. Site was across the road from a beautiful sandy beach. Trailhead for lighthouse in the campground- great trail. Greeted by camp host shortly after arriving. Very friendly and helpful.

The best part of this campground is the size of the sites. Unlike some nearby commercial campgrounds there is more privacy at Hurricane River. It is in the woods so expect bugs.

Being a Hurricane River campground is peaceful and it's like having your own private beach! Nice little hike to lighthouse. Lake Superior is amazing. Make sure do a kayak so you can be up close to Pictured Rocks.

It rained for our night, but this is a beautiful campsite!! We loved the short walk to the beach and trails (bathrooms were also nice and close). Our site was close enough to the lake to hear the waves all night from our tent! 100% would come again!

Pictured Rocks NL is located on the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, between the towns of Munising (west) and Grand Marais (east). Access the west side of the park via Michigan highways M-28 and M-94 to Munising. State highway M-77 leads to Grand Marais on the east side. Alger County Road H-58 runs parallel and through the park, providing access to spur roads that lead to scenic overlooks, trailheads, campgrounds, beaches, etc. Many roads are closed in winter due to snow.
Hurricane River Campground is accessible via Michigan highway M-28, which connects to Munising to the west, and Michigan highway M-77, which leads to Grand Marais to the east. State highway M-94 also provides access to the area.
