Hurricane River Campground is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Superior, with clean facilities and well-maintained sites that offer privacy. Campers enjoy the easy access to hiking trails, pristine beaches, and the soothing sound of waves. However, many reviews mention issues with mosquitoes and the need for better campground management, including the presence of hosts and clearer information. Overall, it’s seen as a lovely spot, especially for hikers and nature lovers.

The camp site was far enough away from other sites to feel secluded yet close enough to the bathrooms if needed. Our camper fit perfectly and we were able to venture out multiple times from our site to many cool places and come back to our cozy site in the evening. It’s a 30-45 minute ride into town either way you go, but it was nice to be centrally located between the two.

My husband and I frequent many parks in the National Park system. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the Hurricane River campground and would easily rank it as the top campground we have experienced within NPS. Though the facilities were rustic [pit toilets, no showers], everything was clean, orderly, and taken care of. We frequently saw NPS staff servicing the restrooms and other parts of the campground. The campground sites themselves were very picturesque, quiet, and though you could see your neighbors at points, it was very private. The proximity to the lake was wonderful. Drifting off to sleep hearing the waves crashing on the beach was amazing. Hurricane River served as a great in between spot to all of the best hiking trails. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

campground was awesome, everything in great condition. Campsites are close enough so you you don't feel isolated in wilderness, but far enough apart to where you feel you have privacy and your own space. Easy to find, but zero service so if you are relying on your phone for directions to get here make sure you look them up before-hand. But even still everything is very well marked and therefore easy to find, and the park is easy to navigate.

Nice, quiet campground, steps away from Lake Superior. The beach was great playing in the sand, skipping rocks, swimming, watching the sunset and later the stars. Nice walk from the campground to the lighthouse. Looking forward to our next visit.

It was great to be able to reserve a site here. Nice quiet place (other than the campground host's generator, next door). We were close to the beach on Lake Superior so it was easy to walk down and watch the sunset or take a (chilly) dip in the crystal clear lake.

We can’t say enough good things about this park! There was so much to explore in the area. The hiking trails were in full fall color. Superior and surrounding lakes were breathtaking. Be sure to prepare yourself with firewood and food — there is not much convenience within reach, which is why you camp out there in the first place! Awesome experience. We will definitely be back!

Very cool campsite. All sites within walking distance of lake shore. You hear the waves at night. Campsites are nicely separated by trees. Short hike to the lighthouse that is only accessible by foot. Make sure you check hours on the lighthouse if you want to tour inside.
