What Guests Are Saying
Hurricane River Campground offers a beautiful and quiet setting with well-maintained, spacious campsites located near Lake Superior and hiking trails. Campers enjoyed the clean facilities, scenic views, and proximity to stunning sunsets and the beach. While some experienced challenges with the reservation system and biting flies, many found the campground to be a lovely retreat and a great base for exploring the area.

campground was awesome, everything in great condition. Campsites are close enough so you you don't feel isolated in wilderness, but far enough apart to where you feel you have privacy and your own space. Easy to find, but zero service so if you are relying on your phone for directions to get here make sure you look them up before-hand. But even still everything is very well marked and therefore easy to find, and the park is easy to navigate.

Nice, quiet campground, steps away from Lake Superior. The beach was great playing in the sand, skipping rocks, swimming, watching the sunset and later the stars. Nice walk from the campground to the lighthouse. Looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed at Hurricane River for three nights. Our campsite was beautiful, well-kept, and very close to the beach and lakeshore trail. The campground was quiet, safe, and easy to navigate through. Next time we visit Pictured Rocks, we will definitely consider staying at Hurricane River again.

We loved this rustic campground! It was close enough to the lake that we slept to the sounds of the shore, and it was easy to hop on to nearby trails. We’d advise watching for firewood on the drive in, though, because we couldn’t find any within ten minutes in either direction. Overall, we can’t recommend this campground enough!

What a wonderful campground! Very peaceful. It felt so secluded, yet was a short walk to the beach. Few people on the beach. Loved Kayaking over the 1880's shipwreck!! (It was a high water year-normally you can see it from shore). You can also take about a mile walk to a lighthouse. Make sure to ask when they are open.

We enjoyed camping in the woods. Did a lot of hiking. Especially liked visiting the Au Sable Lighthouse and going down the giant sand dune- coming up was a bit harder :)
