Hurricane River Campground is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Superior, with clean facilities and well-maintained sites that offer privacy. Campers enjoy the easy access to hiking trails, pristine beaches, and the soothing sound of waves. However, many reviews mention issues with mosquitoes and the need for better campground management, including the presence of hosts and clearer information. Overall, it’s seen as a lovely spot, especially for hikers and nature lovers.

We loved this quiet campground. We were in a non-generator site next to the campground host. The beach was a short walk away. Water and vault toilet were a bit further. Our site has partial sun and shade throughout the day. This campground is an easy hike to the lighthouse or Twelvemile Beach.

I stayed in the loop closest to the lake and it was great. Pit toilets and potable water at the kiosk in the parking lot. Only thing I hope the park sees and addresses in this review is that at the kiosk it states no more than two tents per campsite and on recreation.gov it states no more than four tents per campsite. We had four tents, all of them small single person backpacking tents and the campground hosts did not say anything to us thankfully. I only saw the two tents per campsite rule once there. Three of our tents were on the camping pad and the fourth was right next to it. Campground hosts were friendly and full of useful information about the area. Thanks for a great stay!

having a camping pad was great. Lots of room at the campsite and didn't feel like you were on top of other campers. It was very quiet and peaceful place. We enjoyed the boat tour of the pictured rocks and the hiking around the pictured rocks.
