About Little Beaver Campground

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore hugs the Lake Superior shoreline for more than 40 mi (39.8 mi) along Michigan's northern coast. Lake Superior is the largest, deepest, coldest, and most pristine of all the Great Lakes. Camping at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a great way to relax and enjoy the beauties the lakeshore has to offer. Campgrounds are rustic, and do not provide electric or sewer hookups. Campers, trailers, and RVs are welcome, note there are generator free areas. Cell phone reception is limited, so unplug, unwind, and enjoy the serenity Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Campgrounds has to offer.  This small campground (9 sites) is located 3 mi (0.6 mi) north of Alger County Road H-58 and 20 mi northeast of Munising on Little Beaver Lake. One campsite is wheelchair accessible. Because of the small campsites and the narrow, twisting, hilly access road it is highly suggested you check the campsite length, width, and height before booking.Pets are NOT allowed at Little Beaver Campground.A small boat ramp is available for launching boats. Only electric motors are permitted on Little Beaver Lake and Beaver Lake as these lakes are within the Beaver Basin Wilderness area. Little Beaver also features the Little Beaver Nature Trail, a 1 mi (.1.9 mi) loop trail. A 1.5 mi (1.5 mi) trail leads to Lake Superior and connects with the North Country Trail.

Beautiful campground off the beaten path. The long drive in on the dirt road was an extra bonus of beauty for us but you mustn’t be in a rush. This location is a short drive to the Chapel Loop. If you are intolerant of mosquitoes/flies then the UP may be unpleasant for you in the summer. I recommend bug protection including a head net and open your tent as little as possible. They will find their way in any small hole.

The campsite was great. I canoed along Big Beaver lake the outlet and walked to Lake Superior. It is such a beautiful area. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the mosquitoes and no seems were horrible! You have no control over that but you asked me to rate my experience. Thanks.

A quaint little campground. An unexpected amount of wind coming off the lake though, so stake your tents and bring a jacket.

Once point I'd like to make is that you should buy wood at whatever gas station you stop at in order to get there. The closest wood stands are 20+ minutes away which is a bother.

Guys cleaning bathroom came every day this year. Last year only 1st day. We stay a week each year. As usual huge rocks hamper movement and parking. Had to help folks get into their sites do the rocks. Campground was clean. Water was on which was nice. We had to manage the trail we were using the access the lake because no work is ever done on trails to the lake. We took a shovel and rake to the boat ramp because there was deep hole from someone spinning their tires pulling out their boat. We would have rated our stay excellent if the huge rocks and boulders didn't create such an unfriendly atmosphere and actually a physical hazard. But noone cares. Ask for input but zero feedback.

Great place in the middle of the woods. The out houses seemed to get cleaned daily. Great hiking.

The campground is well maintained. It's small, and the sites are close to each other with very little to separated them. This is a campground for those who want to use the lake and camp close by. It's not for anyone looking for a quiet, laidback camping experience. There's no cell signal in the camp, but there is a good signal at theenterance from the main road which is about 5 mi from the camp.

This is a small quiet campground that’s far enough away from the main trailhead. There’s potable water in the campsite and two bathrooms. Sure #6 is probably the best one here.

Only issue we encountered were people stealing campsites… on the first night at 4am Toyota Tacoma circled the campsite with their lights on a few times, and then finally settled on the site next to ours. They were really making a ruckus while we were trying to sleep.
On the second night, another truck claimed the campsite across from ours at about 5pm (incredibly early to be stealing unoccupied sites). The group that had actually booked that site rolled in around 7pm and thankfully everyone was civil about it.
