The campsites were clean with plenty of space between spots. The beach access was great with a spectacular beach.

Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

This was the perfect campsite. We could walk right down to the beach. We were only about 20 minutes from some of the main hiking trails and about 30 minutes away from Munising. The only downside is no running water but that's advertised when you book so it wasnt a surprise.

Great place but very weather dependent. We had beautiful sunny warm conditions with no bugs. A very very good experience.

This was not our first trip to 12 mi! It was, however, our first via the reservation system! The first come first serve system that was in place prior was difficult. We had a two-day trip to drive there to have to worry about finding a site! We hope to secure a site again this year!

Our group stayed in sites 27 (two tents, one small one large) and 28 (one large tent). While we couldn't see the beach from the sites themselves, the trail through the woods made for a quick walk to the shore. Our July trip invited quite the swarm of black flies during humid weather, but there were not many mosquitos. The bathrooms and trash were very well cared for.
For those wanting to see the beach from their site, I'd recommend checking out the sites that are not part of the loop, as some of those had less woods between the site and the lake. We were very happy with our sites, though: spacious, secluded, large, and beautiful!
There was no cell service in the campground (as anticipated).
