Union River's Big Bear Campground

Union River "Big Bear" Campground exceeded our expectations! The grounds and bathrooms were incredibly clean, the setting was peaceful, and the lake views were stunning. Being able to walk right across the street to the lake was a huge plus. The on-site ice and firewood made everything easy and convenient. We had a fantastic stay.

We had reservations and were very excited about this trip but with the smoke from the wildfires and a pre-existing condition that would make it impossible to be outside for us we had to cancel.

Refused to refund even though it is not safe outside.

Beautiful and quiet. We had a great view of Lake Superior and very close to Lake of the Clouds. Restrooms were clean.

This campground and RV Park is beautiful. It is clean, spacious, the sites are very nice. The RV spots are electric and water and they have a dump station on site for your dumping needs. The owners were fantastic and respectful. This resort is right off of Lake Superior and they have a beautiful patio area that has chairs and swings and a fire pit so you can just sit and watch the lake and the birds. I would definitely recommend staying here and will certainly do it again

What a nice campground this was. Extremely well maintained, perfectly located at the entrance to the Porkies if that’s why you are in that area like we were. Some sites share a utility post so it means that you may need a longer water hose and electric cable so plan for it. The bathhouse was spectacularly clean, showers well appointed (yes, with plenty of hooks, a nice sized bench, a clean shower curtain, and great water pressure, talk about that!), and with nice music piped in to boot! Lovely. The atmosphere was great with lots of families with kids playing, quiet at night. The owners make a roaring campfire by the office in the evening, and there are lots of big, comfy chairs to sit around and enjoy that. The only thing that would make this perfect is laundry facilities. We would definitely return.
