I'm afraid to say how good our annual fishing trip is here, I would hate not getting our campsite due to overcrowding. Love this place and hope it stays our tradition.

The quiet setting is a chance to relax and take in nature. Beautiful sites. We have camped here for years.

Our location was too public. We prefer a more rustic area with less people. The site we were at C86 was loud. We kept hearing people yelling and cars honking. Boats drove past our site constantly.

It was awesome! We rented site 4D on the Au Sable river and we had a blast. It was spacious and had a nice stairway (3-4 steps) to access the river literally right by your tent. Was far from other campers and you had a lot of privacy. Was able to fish and catch and release a variety of fish (red tail sucker, trout, bass). Was able to swim around and enjoy the waters. There is a little Kayak rental place down the road that had essential camping stuff that is needed for last minute. They have showers and bathrooms there too (might have to pay to use). Also, if you needed more stuff there is a little town about 5 mins away called Glennie. They have gas stations, a grocery store, and a liquor store there. Convenient for us cause we are from the Macomb County area. Was only a 2.5hr drive. We already booked our 2nd and 3rd camping trip here!

We have been camping in the Huron National Forest for the last 30 years. Have had a wonderful time each year even though it gets harder every year to get a site. When you go on line to book a site and most are already reserved sometimes the reservation system makes no sense. You get up there and supposedly sites are reserved but no one is on them. Can be disappointing at times. Staff at Lumbermans Monument are always very helpful and pleasant.
