Overall, we had four nice camping nights at Monument Campground. Upon arriving, we found our site well-marked with our name and dates. The place was tidy. The national forest itself is superb. We found the staff in the nearby visitors centre quite friendly, although they certainly did not view the campground as their immediate responsibility. Lots of hiking trails along the Au Sable River. In fact, the place seemed totally unsupervised. !

This is by far my favorite campground in Michigan. The dunes along the trails near the campground offer some of the most beautiful views of sunsets I've ever seen. Love this place!
