This little campground was perfect for me as I was traveling and car camping through the UP. It was a very short drive from the Mackinac Bridge. There are just a handful of sites in this campground but the location was right on the water and perfect. To get to the lake you have to do a short walk up and over a dune but it was well worth it. There was a lot of road noise as it sits right off the main highway, but after dark, there wasn’t nearly as much traffic as during the daytime. Vault toilets were well maintained.

The campsite was great, located right behind the beach with beach access. Amazing sunset views. Huge fire pit. On thing to be aware of is the mosquitos were extremely intense, more so than most other sites I've stayed at.

We had a wonderful one night stay at St Ignace and were able to find a path down to the beach from our campsite and enjoy the water and views. Everything was clean, quiet and private! Wonderful campsite!

Beautiful site! Unfortunately, the forest fire smoke, rain and mosquitos forced us to leave early. Planned on using the quiet fantastic beach for two days, but headed south.

Lots of mosquitos. The main problem, though, is that the campground is right next to the highway, and the truck noise is unbearable.

Road noise is far from the best but that’s no fault of the campground. Host was great and very friendly. Kept the campground and the beach clean.

Lake Michigan Recreational Campground is a beautiful location with very large sites and great access to Lake Michigan; however, the location right next to US 2 made for a very unpeaceful stay. The highway traffic was very loud and constant. It would be a great campground for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time around the fire or relaxing at their site. For us, it didn't work, and we left after only one night.
