Monocle is our “go to” campground! I haven’t camped in years, but bought a vintage pop up camper and had a great time at Monocle. The sites are well-kept, large and the hosts do a great job keeping the campground clean and the campers are courteous at quiet time. Pet friendly, too! Woody loved it! We’ll be back!

Monocle is our “go to” campground! I haven’t camped in years, but bought a vintage pop up camper and had a great time at Monocle. The sites are well-kept, large and the hosts do a great job keeping the campground clean and the campers are courteous at quiet time. Pet friendly, too! Woody loved it! We’ll be back!

The lake was quiet and calm. There were not a lot of motor boats on it. The area was very scenic. We enjoyed going to the Point Iroquois lighthouse that was up the road from there. It was nice and dark at night that you could really see the night sky. Cell reception was very spotty. If you need to use the phone a lot, you will need to go to Sault Ste Marie. Watching the ships come in the Soo Locks was a lot of fun. Zak's Candy House in Sault Ste Marie has really good fudge and ice cream.

First time campers at a federal park. Very happy with the overall appearance of the grounds. Clean and well managed. Beautiful lake for kayaking or light fishing, found a few fish! Ample boat launch provided. Friendly atmosphere making for a relaxing stay.

From Bay Mills, travel west on County Road 42 (Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway) for approximately half a mile, then turn south on Forest Road 3699 to the campground entrance.
Monocle Lake Campground is accessible via County Road 42 (Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway), which connects to M-129 approximately 10 miles to the east.
