The location is beautiful and ideal for swimming. It was close to the state hiking trail and Tower, MN with many things to do doing the day. However, our experience was significantly impacted by disruptive behavior from neighboring campers. Despite posted quiet hours and campground policies, there was persistent yelling and loud disturbances lasting until 2 a.m. on both nights of our stay. The noise could be heard throughout the entire campground and was accompanied by apparent intoxication. We were also informed that the individuals had a firearm, which made it unsafe to intervene or report the issue directly. Unfortunately, this behavior overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Caretaker was wonderful. Always hard at work improving the park. The mosquitos were beyond swarms was the only problem. But it is nature. Noticed beach no longer had buoys and there were no garbage bins. Budget cuts??

Was very disappointed after camping here for years. Beach wasn’t mowed and no buoys out. Fire pits weren’t shoveled out. Sites not mowed and bathrooms were swept and stocked with toilet paper, but not cleaned.

Overall the campground is very well kept. One thing we noticed is that many of the campsites the grass is very long and not kept up. It would be nice to see more of a sand beach put in at the swim area.

We tent camped two nights at Pfieffer Lake. After searching the campground for water, and concluding that there was none, another camper told us that it was on the wall of an unmarked brown building near our campsite. Campgrounds always have the water marked with a sign. Not here.
There are no showers or flush toilets, and the campsites are not secluded enough to enjoy bathing outdoors.
The lake has no beach, grass to the water line, and a rocky bottom.
Toilets were clean with paper but no hand sanitizer.
Our reservation was marked wrong on the site post, but we couldn't ever find the host to make sure they didn't expect us to leave on the date shown.
