Reservation and check-in was easy. I had access to lake from my site. Being able to shower was great!

One of the better Forest Service campgrounds that we have ever been to (and we've been to many). Mosquitoes were a problem, but hey it's Minnesota in the summer. Can't get away from the buggers! Popular campground so you have to make reservations well in advance. Some of the sites are a little tricky to back into with long trailers (ours is a 37' 5th wheel) because the roads are narrow. Densely wooded so its near impossible to find a opening to get satellite reception if that's your thing. Been there multiple times and have yet to find a site that we could get the dish set up. That's OK too. More time to enjoy the surroundings. There's a dump station ($5.00) at the info center in Ely. Ely is a fun town to explore and the bear and wolf centers are worth a visit.

We had a hard time getting our 30' Airstream camper down the hill into our site. It was very buggy. John

We have been staying here annually for over 18 years and have never had a problem with the excellent facilities. This year there were issues with the toilets and showers but the hosts did what they could to remedy the situation. They were very nice and worked hard to help us through our stay

Staff/Camp hosts were very helpful and super friendly. All sites and facilities cleaner than any other campground I have been to. Excellent.

Be aware boat launch is busy with motorboats heading south or into BWCA at Fall Lake. I guess there are special permits, so you will have boaters zooming around near the campgrounds.

Our experience with the rangers thru Outdoor Afros MN Stephen Scott and Caitlyn Utley was so amazing, the welcome and the stay and accomodations was paramount and exceptional. The time they took to teach us and inform us and the enthusiasm they have about what they do radiated in us with so much understanding and knowledge. The hospitality shown and the experience we had with the rangers Makayla Aaron Maggie and of course Kes Ebbs and a few others whom were equally amazing but my mind has lost their names was enlightening informing and wonderful. First time to Ely and the superior forest and the entire experience had me on clouds so high and natural . It was winter wonderland with beautiful folks every where we went. Ill be back some day and I hope so many more venture deep north to the end of this busy life to the beginning if the wilderness where humanity shows out ❤️✨️ Thank you for a forever memory adventure
