Many appreciate the private, wooded areas and proximity to hiking trails and the city of Ely. Some minor issues were reported, including occasional odors and the need for a nearby dump station, but overall, visitors enjoy returning to this peaceful and scenic campground.

Nice clean well-run campground. Quiet though full the 2 nights we stayed before canoeing the BWCA. Easy for prep and staging and just an easy drive to town and Moose Lake Entry 25.

We came on a particularly bad weather day. Pouring rain. So we didn't get to set up our camp as we'd usually like. And we were only there for one night. But this was still one of my favorite campgrounds.
Short walk to the lake which was beautiful. Hot showers. Electric hook up. The actual campsite was spacious and beautiful. I'm already thinking about a longer stay next year.
And the campground is a short drive to/from Ely. So it's a perfect spot before or after experiencing the boundary waters.

Very clean sites, ground has always been raked when I’ve stayed. Clean bathrooms. Lots of great sites with water access. Recommend the short hike to the Kawishiwi Falls Trailhead nearby. Close to town and outfitters to gear up for a BWCA trip.

A premier National Forest campground, and a reminder of why we need the sanity of wilderness - quiet days, dark nights, the escape from technology. One afternoon a flock of chickadees whirled in as the two of us read by the fire and perched on our heads and shoulders and outstretched hands - not a catholic, but St. Francis is newly appealing. Fall Lake is also an entry point to the BWCA; loons abound, and there’s a high level of environmental literacy woven into the experience. There’s not a bad campsite here, and the restrooms and showers are maintained with care.

The campground and facilities are 5 stars! Experience with the staff.... not so much.

Lovely campsite with a private path down to the lake (perhaps 70 ft away). Campsites are wooded and well spaced apart, so felt private. There was a steep ~20 ft downhill from the parking to the actual camping area which might be inconvenient to campers who are less able. Campground was clean and well maintained. Appreciated that the site office provided rental canoes (old aluminum canoes) for $20 for 24 hours - a good deal given we don't own our own, although the office has quite limited hours. One thing I didn't like is that the bathrooms required an access code - when we arrived at night I didn't know the access code - it was not included in any prior communication (I had to ask another camper for it). The following morning I found a letter posted at the entrance office with my name on it which included the code, but as I arrived at night when the office was closed and already knew my site number, it did not occur to me that I would want to check the office.

I always camp here to kayak the nearby lakes every FALL. This campground is outstanding; quiet, extremely well maintained, bathrooms very clean, office has items campers need, staff are very helpful and friendly. This park is better than our State parks. I thank all staff for their hard work to keep this campground number one. Looking forward to next FALL.

Our first visit and we loved it! Nice campsites that are isolated from each other with lots of trees around and between each site. The campground hosts were great and very helpful with our questions. Beautiful facility!
