This is a beautiful campground. The COE knows how to construct the layout of a great campground. The sites are well separated with trees all around. The bathroom and shower facilities are top notch. The one negative in this person's opinion is a lighting issue. It is always distressing to see an RV owner who keep his outside RV lights brightly lit all night long, indicating the person's fear of the dark or a belief that the RV campground is a high risk crime area. But for the COE to install New York City-style street lighting around the campground is even more distressing. We were able to view a spectacular northern lights display during our stay at this campground, but we had to hike a long, long way to out of the campground light pollution to get the point where we could observe the fantastic light show. If you are planning to camp at a place with a late night stroll to view the stars and moon, this is not the campground for you.

This is such a Jen, each year we stay a few extra days. It’s the most well maintained and cleanest campground I have ever seen and we add more family to our trip each year and they all love it too!

RE: the Leech Lake rec area CG.....We liked the CG layout just fine. For a mid-week visit, it was OK. Pretty sure we would not enjoy it on a crowded weekend. The water stinks like sulfer or worse so it's hard to enjoy a shower in their facilities. The cold water smells OK but once it's heated up, it stinks. That includes water in your RV's water heater. We stayed in in one of the few with full hookups and the sewer smells worse than any sewer hook up I've experienced. We have a compost toilet so we only drained grey water. We soon learned we had to pull the hose out of the drain and close it or be overwhelmed with stink. Also, if you are a fan of driving North to enjoy the starry night sky, this CG is over-lit with yellow street lights. If they were 50% less bright, they would still be too bright! On the plus side, it is a mostly roomy place at a reasonable cost.
