This campground is excellent. Everyone seemed to do their part as to keeping it clean. There was garbage laying around that I noticed. I think that since this is such a popular campground that the garbage bins should be emptied more often. I know some garbage bags had to be left on top of bins, and it wasn’t even after a weekend...not safe for any bear issues. Very clean bathrooms.

The online reservation process went well. No problems getting to the camp site. My family and I had a nice stay. I was disappointed by the closeness to adjacent sites and the trash I had to pick up from previous campers.

Very basic but very good camping cabin with comfortable pads on the bunks. Also good spacing of secluded sites. Good area for critter spotting.

We camped in September during the week. Campground was generally clean and quiet, with the one exception slamming doors at the camper cabins. Cold water was available. Camping ranged from tents to larger enclosed RVs with boats. Parking at the launch was adequate, but nearly full. Yes, we'd recommend it to others.

East Bearskin Lake Campground is located 26 miles from Grand Marais, on the historic Gunflint Trail. From Duluth, take Highway 61 north to Grand Marais. Turn left (north) on Gunflint Trail and proceed about 26 miles to East Bearskin Road. Turn right and follow the signs to the campground.
East Bearskin Lake Campground is accessed via Highway 61, which runs north from Duluth to Grand Marais. From Grand Marais, visitors can take Gunflint Trail for about 26 miles to reach the campground.

- This lake has portages into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; when portaging or paddling from this lake and into another, be aware that permits may be required to enter (click here for permit information)
- Some first-come, first-served sites are available within the campground
- Bears may frequent the area; use appropriate containers for food and garbage and be aware of your surroundings
