Such a beautiful spot! I came with some friends for a XC ski weekend and we LOVED Golden Eagle. They have the perfect spot right on Flour Lake. AND a sauna. It's just the right balance of small, family-run rusticness. I can't wait to come back in the summer with a paddleboard.

The XC trails were beautiful, and very well groomed. Everyone at the front desk was really friendly and had helpful suggestions for routes.

Cabins are so cute and cozy with wood-burning fireplaces and nicely stocked kitchens (plates, cooking utensils, etc.). I liked the attention to detail -- even the signs with helpful instructions are in cabin-style decor. :)

I came here for their propane service. Back in September 2025. They offered cheaper refill for a 20# tank than the local supplier!
As for the RV Park? It looks like a very nice place to stay. The area was nice, people were very friendly and helpful.

Our family has had the privelege of visiting Golden Eagle Lodge at least 3 times a season these past 7-8 yrs. This 3rd-generation, family owned resort is an exceptional stay when you want respite and relaxation. Their motto...."Unspoiled and Unforgettable" is one of the reasons we LOVE Golden Eagle Lodge and everyone there from the owners to the family-staff and even some of the regular visitors like us.
Sometimes as business owners, difficult decisions to maintain the serenity of the wilderness are made to the benefit of all which is both courageous and highly respected from folks who come to the Gunflint area for a reason.
Recent reviews across various travel sites unfairly depicts a situation from narrowed selfish perspective. What the author of that review either neglects to share or lacks the emotional awareness to understand is how their actions impacted other visitors....I know....we were present and to say it was uncomfortable and disruptive would be understated. To recount the times that certain visitors come to this particular location with their oversized boats and run the lake as if they own the waters...without a care for how other folks also want to enjoy their vacations. The author makes exaggerated all-or-nothing statements about having to "Avoid any type of laughter, games or fun" I say BS. What the author lacks in self-awareness, she makes up for in immaturely lashing out. Her recent post on an area FB Group resulted in quite the opposite affect for what I believe was her intention that is to garner sympathy and group dissent...to place blame on the resort owners and not take responsiblity for their groups disrupting behaviors. The affect was so opposite that she turned FB comments off before I could add to the collective supporting GEL...so I am placing my reply to her here.
The owners of Golden Eagle Lodge are well respected, wonderful people who sacrifice more than many know to ensure the safety and enjoyment of their guests. INFINITE stars for so many reasons.....including the profesisonal nature by which they managed this situation.

We had a wonderful stay at Golden Eagle Resort! The cabin was immaculate and very comfortable. The peaceful setting made for a truly relaxing getaway. They even provide bird seed for the feeders — such a fun touch to watch all the birds come by throughout the day.

The cabin is dog-friendly, which was a big plus — our pup loved it too! A few helpful things to bring would be hand soap, extra toilet paper, and paper towels. The beds were a bit firm but not too bad. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay again!

Splendid resort on quiet lake. We stayed at their campgrounds but will try a cabin next time. These Folks keep their facilities immaculate. Many beautiful scenic well marked trails.
