This is our favorite spot because of the direct water access (we bring kayaks). The latrine maintenance is good.

Our #1 complaint about the Forest campground system is the charge for a second vehicle. We are individuals coming from two different cities--states even! It is grossly unfair to charge drivers of two separate cars for an extra when drivers pulling boat trailers or campers do not have to pay more. The cars have a much less negative impact on the surface than the other dual vehicles that back in, often taking multiple efforts that tear out foliage etc. This site in particular has ample parking for two without any negative effects on the ground or trees.

Site 24 was very roomy. Much of the low brush had been cleared so not super private. Single toilet was very buggy and smelled. Other toilets were good. Swimming area was kinda weedy.

Had the camp to ourselves as no one else here.. cancellations due to fires and smoke on the border.. winds were perfect and we never smelled any smoke.. nice camp grounds. Clean vault toilets.. would like to try kayak fishing next time..

Flour Lake is a beautiful, well-kept, clean campground. Because of the nearby fires, it wasn't full. It was very peaceful and quiet. The lake water was warm and refreshing for swimming. The Hosts do a magnificent job managing this campground and made several trips through it daily. The sites are roomy and picnic tables are in excellent condition. We love this campground!

Campsites are very well maintained with trees between for privacy. Close to many gunflint trail shops and food. Flour lake boat launch was used for swimming (unable to swim at golden eagle lodge beach). I would definitely stay again!

We thought we had booked a site on the lake, but we were way up the hill. But the manager allowed us to move into a lake site that was cancelled. The site we were in was great. The Golden Eagle Lodge was very helpful in making our move. They also provided very helpful maps of Flour Lake. Our vehicle died, and again the Golden Eagle Lodge was helpful in providing contact with a towing company, and once even gave us a ride to the lodge to make phone calls. Unfortunately, because our vehicle died we had to leave two days early, so our vacation was shortened considerably. I gave the trip 4 stars because the Lodge would not refund some of our canoe rental since we had to leave early. They could have been flexible in their rental. Also, the toilet was filled with dead flies and needed to be cleaned (e.g., swept out).

Site 26 is the most secluded and plenty big but its next to the boat launch and therefore its load with motor boats leaving early around 5:30 am!
